Working Students and U.S. Employment Realities: Literacy a University Should Teach without Practising Law

Abstract

Crownshire students work. This teaching-and-research note covers overtime myths, at-will basics, and IP assignment in plain language, clearly not as legal advice. An assessed literacy unit reduced naive signing of ‘we own your homework’ clauses in internships, according to a follow-up survey. Crownshire University should keep this literacy in professional programmes. An American university that ignores the job that pays the tuition of time is not adult-serving.
