FLSA folklore, Minnesota at-will myths, and supervisor memos—not a law licence.
Online or on campus

Midwest workplaces mix at-will folklore, union shops, and family firms that still call employment ‘family.’ This certificate starts with what a non-lawyer supervisor may do: document, escalate, and refuse illegal instructions without impersonating a general counsel. You will practise Minnesota-relevant literacy as academic study, not as advice to a named client. Dual-pathway applicants state primary mode. English-medium waiver includes U.S. regionally accredited bachelor's. HLC and DEAC stay on the institutional accreditation page. Campus workshops, if any, do not become a secret ‘real’ version of the certificate; the assessed toolkit is the same artefact online. You will practise Minnesota-relevant literacy as academic study, not as advice to a named client. Faculty will fail submissions that read like legal opinions or that display bar or SHRM logos. Family firms, union shops, and public employers appear as distinct constraint sets. Escalation to counsel is a learning outcome, not a failure of the student. Supervisors on night shifts must be able to use the toolkit without a law degree. The award is practice literacy. It is not a J.D., not a law licence, not automatic SHRM certification. Every page must say so.
Fifteen credits: U.S. employment architecture, Midwest workplace contexts, documentation craft, and a supervisor-toolkit capstone. Identity-checked assessment.
